The foundation of your website consists of various elements, which we call posts. These posts are the building blocks of your website and are divided into channels (blog articles, frequently asked questions, and more) and structures (pages). Via the “Posts” button in the main menu on the left, you will find a complete overview. Here, you can add new channels and structures and fill them with content.
Below is an overview of the most common structures.
Pages
With the “Page” structure, you create the pages that make up your website. In the center of the screen, you will find the Block Editor. Here, you can add different blocks to fill the page with content. On the right-hand side, you will see the settings. Here you can, among other things:
- adjust the slug (the last part of the web address);
- place the page in the menu;
- add metadata to the page (such as title and description);
- link a template to the page.
Block editor
In the center of the page, you will find the Block Editor. With the Block Editor, you can build content using separate elements, also called blocks. Instead of working with one continuous piece of text, you work here with individual blocks for different elements, such as text, images, and other components. This makes creating and editing content much clearer and more visual.
Menu structure
Under the “Menu” section on the right-hand side, you can choose which menu you want to link the current page to.
Metadata
Under the “Meta” section on the right-hand side, you will find the metadata you can set for a page, such as the title and description. This information is important for the visibility of your website in search engines such as Google.
Templates
Under the “Template” section on the right-hand side, you can link a template to the current page.
A template determines the appearance and functionality of the page.
The most commonly used templates* are:
- Default / Empty: displays the title you entered at the top of the page in the “title” field;
- Blank: does not display the title you entered at the top of the page in the “title” field;
- Articles: shows an overview of all created articles.
Each template responds differently to the content you add through the Block Editor.
*The available templates may vary depending on the version of the CMS.
Revisions
Using the “Revisions” menu at the top right of the page, you can view and, if needed, restore earlier versions of your page. Each time you save a change, the CMS automatically creates a new revision. This means you can always return to an older version if something went wrong or if you want to restore previous content.
This feature is especially useful when you:
- accidentally deleted or changed something;
- want to compare how a page looked before;
- want to reuse an older version.
