The settings allow you to customize the CMS to match your own preferences and way of working. Below, you will find an overview of the settings that may be important or useful for you.
Sites
Under “Sites”, you can set the default language of your website and, if desired, add multiple language versions*. When you click “Add”, you can create a new language version. You will need to fill in the following:
- Title: the name of the language version (for example, English or Dutch);
- Base dir: the part of the URL (the web address in your browser’s address bar) that corresponds to that language. For the English version of your site, this could for example be /en. For the Dutch version, this could for example be /nl. If you then visit, for example, yourwebsiteurl.com/en, you will be taken to the English version of the website;
- Locale: the language setting, for example nl-NL for Dutch or en-GB for English.
Redirects
Using the “Redirects” module, you can redirect pages to another page of your choice. This is useful, for example, when you want existing pages from an old website (which have already been indexed by search engines) to redirect to the correct new page on your current website.
Options
Under “Options”, you can manage general settings, such as setting your email address and phone number, linking social media accounts, and entering any keys/tokens* for external services.
Menus
Here, you can adjust the content and order of the menus on your website. Want to know how to work with menus within the CMS? Then look here for more explanation.
Users
The users page in the CMS provides an overview of everyone who has access to the administration environment (the CMS) of your website. If you have the correct permissions, you can also add new users here. By clicking on a user, you can, depending on your permissions, view and edit their profile details.
Profile
Here, you can change your profile details such as your name, email address, and password. You always log in via yourwebsiteurl.com/gcms. Have you forgotten your password? Then you can use the “forgot password” button at yourwebsiteurl.com/gcms.
Translations
Translations are pieces of text that are used throughout the website. For example, this could be the text “read more” for an article or “related questions” for a question. With the “Translations” module, you can change these kinds of texts in one central place within the CMS.
