About the Block Editor

Working with the visual Block Editor.

With the Block Editor, you can create content using separate blocks. Unlike a standard word processor, where everything is shown as one continuous piece of text, the Block Editor works with individual blocks for different elements such as text, images, and other components. This makes creating content much clearer and more visual.

The basic functions of the Block Editor work as follows.

block-toevoegen
The plus icon used to add blocks.

Add

On a detail page, you can click the plus icon to open a selection menu. In this menu, you choose which block you want to add.

We have also already put together a collection of blocks for you: the patterns. We recommend using these.

block-bewerken
The pencil icon used to edit a block.

Edit

If you click on an existing block, a menu will appear above it. In some cases, you will see a pencil icon there. You can use this icon to edit the block.

block-verwijderen-1
The cross icon used to delete the entire block.

Delete

If you click on an existing block, a menu will appear above it. Using the cross icon in this menu, you can delete the entire block. You can restore this block by going back to an earlier revision.

block-volgorde-1
The arrows used to move the current block up or down.

Change order

If you click on an existing block, a menu will appear above it. Using the arrows in this menu, you can move the block up or down.

Relevant settings

When you click on a block, you may notice that the settings on the right-hand side change in some cases. If a block has specific settings, you can adjust them here.

Some examples of settings you can change are:

  • the aspect ratio of images in image blocks;
  • the spacing below columns or certain types of blocks*;
  • the background color of groups of columns.

*The available settings may differ per block and per version of the CMS.
